Halcyon Group
Rebrand

Halcyon Group  ·  2024  ·  Brand Strategy Lead

Halcyon had outgrown its own name. Fifteen acquisitions in a decade had left a confident business wearing a timid identity — one that spoke to who it used to be, not the market leader it had quietly become. Our brief was to make the outside match the inside.

The new Halcyon, in its first week of trading under one name.

We started with the truth of the business rather than the wishlist of the boardroom. Eight weeks of interviews across the group surfaced a single idea everyone already believed but no one had said out loud — that Halcyon wins by being calm when its markets are not. Every decision that followed, from the name architecture to the tone of a footnote, bent toward that idea.

Rollout across the group's fifteen operating companies.

The hardest part was restraint. A rebrand invites everyone to add; the discipline was in taking away — collapsing five sub-brands into one, cutting the palette to a single confident green, and letting white space do the talking. Twelve months later, unprompted brand recall across the group had nearly doubled.

The identity, applied end to end — from signage to the annual report.

"They didn't give us a new logo. They gave us permission to be the company we already were."

Dana Whitfield — Group CEO, Halcyon
