// About Serenis
A practice built around the person, not the diagnosis.
We exist to make good therapy feel ordinary, unhurried, and within reach.
// Our story
It started with a waiting room
nobody wanted to sit in.
Serenis began in 2014, when three clinicians who had spent a decade inside large hospital systems kept hearing the same thing from clients: the care was competent, but the experience felt cold. Fluorescent corridors, clipboard intakes, twelve-week waits.
We rented two rooms above a bookshop, brought in soft lamps and real chairs, and made one rule for ourselves: nothing about the space or the paperwork should ask a person to perform being fine. Everything else followed from that.
Twelve years on we are a team of fourteen guides across three locations and a virtual practice. The rule has not changed.

// Milestones
How we grew.
2014
Two rented rooms above a bookshop, three clinicians, and a first client list of eleven people.
2016
Couples and family work joins the practice; we design the intake conversation to replace the intake form.
2019
The Calm Water Way studio opens with six therapy rooms, a quiet library, and a garden courtyard.
2021
Virtual sessions become permanent rather than temporary, extending care to clients two hundred miles out.
2023
The sliding-scale fund launches, reserving a fifth of all weekly hours for reduced-fee care.
2026
Fourteen guides, three studios, and an average wait of nine days from first message to first session.
Pace over progress
Nobody is put on a timetable. Sessions move at the speed the person in the room can carry.
Plain language
We explain what we are doing and why, without clinical vocabulary that keeps you at a distance.
The right guide
If the match is wrong, we say so and change it. Fit matters more than continuity.
// The team
The people you'll sit with.
